FACIAL SKINCARE GUIDE
The skin barrier: what it is and how to care for it
A clear guide to understanding the skin barrier, recognizing signs of imbalance and building a respectful cosmetic routine.

1. What is the skin barrier?
It is the outermost layer of the skin. Its cells and lipids work as a protective structure that helps retain water and reduce the impact of external stressors.
2. Signs of a compromised barrier
Tightness, flaking, dryness, stinging, sensitivity and visible redness may appear when the barrier is out of balance. These signs can also have other causes and do not replace professional assessment.
3. Habits that can affect it
Harsh cleansing, over-exfoliation, using too many active ingredients at once, unprotected sun exposure and environmental changes can increase discomfort.
4. A simple, consistent routine
Prioritize gentle cleansing, hydration, a moisturizer compatible with your skin and broad-spectrum sunscreen during the day. Introduce new products gradually and avoid changing the whole routine at once.
5. Ingredients that support the barrier
Ceramides, cholesterol and other biomimetic lipids help replenish barrier components. Humectants and soothing ingredients such as glycerin, betaine, panthenol, ectoin, colloidal oatmeal and beta-glucan can provide cosmetic hydration and comfort.
6. When to seek guidance
Consult a professional if you experience pain, swelling, persistent lesions, worsening symptoms or a diagnosed condition. A cosmetic can complement daily care, but it does not replace medical diagnosis or treatment.
